DIY Lighted Glass Block

December 4, 2011 by Laura Leave a Comment

Here’s a very basic overview of how to make those lighted glass blocks that are showing up everywhere.

Get yourself a Krafty Blok and mini light set from the craft store.  (You can get plain glass blocks at Lowe’s or Menards that are less expensive, but then you’ll have to drill them. I didn’t feel up to that.)

Mini Lights

The nice thing about the Krafty Blok is they have a pre-cut hole and stopper at top. (You could turn these into banks, vases, shadowboxes, etc!)

Then, print your photo or graphic on vellum paper, (I used a photo of our aisle runner). Cut to size, then adhere to the block with scrapbook adhesive. Stuff in your mini lights and plug in!

I will probably add some ribbon around the sides and the bow around the top but this is as far as I got for now.  Many people also put Mod Podge over the image, or even the sparkly beads, which makes it look really cute!

Another idea is to put some vinyl decals on these.
