I originally planned to purchase real flowers, or maybe fake flowers to give to my Daisy troop during our Investiture Ceremony. However, I forgot to look for the fake flowers at the craft store, and since we are on a tight budget I decided to use my own supplies I already had on hand to make something. As it turns out, I’m even more thrilled with what I came up with because the girls can keep these for years to come as a memento of when they officially became a Girl Scout Daisy. Yay! =)
It’s pretty simple, really. First I cut my felt pieces with the daisy portion nearly 7.5″ around (you can download the free PDF template from HERE), painted a 12″ wooden dowel, then glued the pieces together. I chose to personalize ours with each girl’s name, our troop number and the year with heat transfer vinyl, but you can totally make yours without if you don’t have access to those tools and materials.
Supplies Needed:
DISCLAIMER: All of these items (or something similar) should be available in your local craft shop, but I have provided Amazon affiliate links below for your reference and convenience. If you choose to purchase anything using my links I will earn a small commission (at no additional cost to you!) which is used to support this blog so I can continue providing free tutorials such as this! While you are in no way obligated to use my links, I do appreciate the support from those who do! =)
Wooden Dowel – 1/4″ x 12″ (like these on Amazon)
Black Stiffened Felt Sheet – 12″ x 18″ (as seen here on Amazon)
Acrylic Felt Sheets in Yellow, White, Black & Green – 9″ x 12″ (similar to these on Amazon)
Glue Gun & Glue Sticks (I like the ones that have dual temp)
Scissors (Pretty much any crafting scissors will work!)
Green Paint or Marker (I used Festive Green)
Optional: Heat transfer vinyl, or I also wonder if you could use iron on transfer papers to personalize? Something like this might work, but you’d have a white background…If you try it let me know how it goes!
If you are crafty you probably have several of these items on hand already so you should be able to make these (not personalized) for just over $1.00 each. But, if you do not have the time or desire to make your daisies from scratch, let me know and I can make a set for you!
