Since I decided to go ahead and make my own laundry detergent I thought I might as well get crazy and try my luck at homemade fabric softener too! (Another idea sparked from Pinterest.)
I followed the recipe I found on The Frugal Girls website:
- 6 Cups Hot Water
- 3 Cups Suave Conditioner (I used Lavender & Lilac)
- 2 Cups White Vinegar
Mix the hot water and conditioner until dissolved, then add vinegar and mix well. Use about 2 TBSP per load. Again – SUPER EASY!
Since I was lazy and didn’t want to make a trip to the local store already ordering supplies for my DIY Laundry Detergent I ordered the Suave Conditioner from Alice.com. I didn’t do a cost breakdown but again, I know it costs a lot less than Downy.
My plan is to try this out for awhile and see if my husband notices a difference. 😉
